Dependencies
What a task waits for: another task's finish or start, with a lag in working days.
A dependency says what a task waits for, such as "Furnish the office" waiting for "Sign the lease" to finish. Continual schedules tasks from their dependencies.
How it works
You add a dependency on the task that waits, under Waits for. Choose the task it waits for and the Type:
- Finish to start: it starts once the other task finishes. This is the default.
- Start to start: it starts once the other task starts.
- Finish to finish: it finishes once the other task finishes.
Add a Lag in working days if the task must wait longer, such as two days for paint to dry. A task cannot wait for itself, and it waits for another task at most once.
Deleting either task deletes the dependency. If dependencies form a loop, Continual leaves the tasks in it without dates and the project says which tasks wait for each other.
Object: changes freely, and its history keeps the old values.
