Posts and the Feed
Everything people and Continual write is a post: messages in threads, comments on records, reactions, and the stories Continual writes for the Feed.
A post is anything a person or Continual writes for others to read. Every post is written once: it is never edited, and only its author can take it back.
Kinds of post
| Post | Where it lives | Who reads it | Who writes it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Message | In a thread | Only the thread's owner | You and Continual |
| Comment | Under a record, in its Activity | Anyone who can read the record | People and Continual |
| Story | In the Feed | Everyone it concerns | Only Continual |
A message is private, between you and Continual. A comment is shared with everyone who can see the record. Emails synced from Gmail are records of the Inbox app, not posts.
Reactions
You can react to a message or a comment with any emoji. Each reaction is its own small record, one per person per post, and like a post, only its author can take it back. Continual notes your reactions to its messages the next time it works.
The Feed
Coming. The Feed is where you keep up with the business. Continual writes it: a ranked stream of stories about what changed and what matters, each about the records it concerns, and it ends when you are caught up. People never post to the Feed. A comment on a story goes to the record the story is about, where the team can see it.
Today, Feed on the rail shows sample stories.
Posts, Activity, and to-dos
Three places can look alike, and each has one job:
| Place | Job |
|---|---|
| Activity | The full history of one record: every change and comment |
| Feed | What matters across the business, chosen and written by Continual |
| To-dos | What needs you to act |
A story never asks you to act. When something needs you, Continual gives you a to-do.
